Israeli ambassador calls for 'thorough' investigation of Iranian link in AMIA,
Embassy bombings Monday, July 7, 2014

attack.Israeli ambassador to Argentina, Dorit Shavit, called for a
“thorough” investigation of the Iranian link in the AMIA Jewish community
building and Israel Embassy bombing in the 90s.
“Over 22 years have passed in the Israel Embassy case and we have no thread
to understand what happened. We are convinced that Iranians are guilty for
this attack,” Shavit told a local newspaper.
The diplomat stressed the importance “of a thorough inquiry on the Iranian
link to the attacks to prevent the possibility of a third assault” but then
played down that scenario. “There are no signs of a third attack,” she
said, “although it is hard to tell because Iran has defined Israel as its
main strategic enemy”.
The Israeli official warned about Tehran’s intentions and reiterated its
country’s opposition to memorandum of understanding signed between Argentina
and Iran over the attack on the AMIA building. “We must be cautious of Iran,
we know it has a strong influence in Latin America,” she said.
“The memorandum with Iran is a prerogative and a right of Argentina […]
but in our view, Iran has never been a trustworthy counterpart,” the Israeli
diplomat stated.
